Shalonda Hurd
Founder
In the Books CPA Services, APC was founded by Shalonda Hurd, CPA. As the daughter of a small business owner, my father worked his way up from sweeping the floors for a company as a teenager, to getting certified in his craft, to business owner of that very same business when the opportunity arose 20+ years later. While he was great at his craft, he knew very little about running a business, which is common for most people. While my father went on to have a successful business for 30 more years, those first few years were make or break, which again is true for so many people.
In the Books CPA Services, APC was born out of the desire to help small business owners avoid some of the common pitfalls with starting a new business. You just don’t know what you don’t know. It is a big leap of faith to follow your dreams or passions, and we want to help provide support as you move through various phases of business.
More about the Founder:
As a Certified Public Accountant with public and industry accounting experience spanning over 20 years, Shalonda Hurd is the go-to person for all your business’ financial needs. Her experience ranges from audit to financial accounting & reporting (including financial statement preparation, financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasts) to tax. In addition to her previous management roles, she taught various Accounting technology systems in the corporate sector for almost 10 years. Shalonda has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, an MBA, and she is also a Certified Tax Coach.
When she is not working, Shalonda is either at the beach, or she is out travelling the world and experiencing new things. She also enjoys a good movie night or game night with family and friends.

Our mission is to grant businesses a peace of mind by alleviating the stress of keeping up with the books and ever-evolving tax laws, all while running a business and also to de-mystify financials and empower small business owners with the knowledge and understanding needed to make informed decisions.
